Friday night movie night

It was a double flick movie night tonight, The Blind Side and The Notebook, I hadn't ever seen the Blind Side, good movie. Andd the Notebook can still make me cry. I always used to think my mom was crazy for crying in so many movies, apparently she gave me the crying gene because I could probably cry over some cheesy semi-sad commercial. Its bad, doesnt even matter if I've seen it before, my friend wanted to watch Bridge to Terabithia one time, I had already seen it and I thought I could handle it, definitely not! I was not expecting that movie to be sad, but I couldnt even hold it together the 2nd time around. Kind of embarassing, this is why I refuse to watch even remotely looking sad movies in the theatre.

Anyways enough crying, I went to H&M today and the new Garden Collection was in, and it was so cheap! I got one of the dresses for $15.95! I picked up a few other things while out today too despite the fact I had put myself on a no shopping policy for awhile, oops!

After looking around Stockholm Streetstyle today.. I think this kinda confirms I need to try on a longer skirt.. I havent even ever considered a long skirt since like grade 3 when I had this really hippie-ish looking one that I loved..

Spring Cleaning

So I finally decided to fulfill a goal I made so long ago and do a major overhaul clean on my room/closet. Im starting with my magazines, I dont know if I've ever mentioned that Im a total maga-holic, I just hate to throw any out. But it was getting crazy, taking up like half of my floor space, its seriously like in the hundreds. Bad, I know. My mom even offered me $40 just to throw them out, haha she clearly does not like my magazine/floor look. I came up with a plan to toss some, and just rip out inspiring photos that I want to save, and keep some others actually arranged on a book shelf. Let me tell you, its very tiring, but Im making progress!

I also dont know if I've ever mentioned I am not a fan of earrings. The whole idea of sticking something through my ear, with the fear of some possible chance it could be ripped out is just not something I care to ever experience. Not only that but I always found them uncomfortable, just the feeling of things on my ears bothers me, so I let the piercings I had grow shut many years ago.

A few days ago I saw this ear cuff/ change on earring, whatever you want to call it, and thought it was such a fabulous alternative. This is so much better to me than earrings will ever be. I honestly would love to try something like this out, would it not be so great in something brighter as well? Some turquoise, or maybe even a feathery peacock.

Little Moon

Just from this photo Im already excited to see the rest of Wilfreds new "Little Moon" collection, Wilfred has always been my favorite thing from Aritzia - minus their hike in prices, but still this looks awesome. I need me some summer.

05/03/2010

So happy the weekend is here, its funny how a break can go by so fast yet as soon as school gets back in, its like time stands still.

Im pretty sure everyone I know right now is in a little bit of Olympic withdrawal, I miss it a little too. I still wish I could have gone to some events, but for the most part it was too expensive for the events I wanted, (aka hockey up to like $25000 - yeah seriously.) But it was honestly still such a great experience and I will always remember it, the atmosphere and the excitement was really something I cant explain unless you were here to experience it yourself, definitely a once in a lifetime kind of thing. Not to mention last Sundays mens gold hockey game was the most pumped and exciting day that I have ever seen, amazing!

In all the excitement I really didnt take that many photos, but I thought Id share a few of the photos I did capture.
^ Athletes Olympic Village ^Molson Canadian Hockey house, aka major party every night, I didnt go though, tickets were too pricey for me ;)
^Part of the houses and pavillions at night, pretty much any night time photo I took turned out blurry, this was about the best I had
^A few people wanting to get a look at the imprisoned torch/cauldron^Just a few more people

^Random people who waited in a 3+ hour line-up to zipline over the city square packed with people, definitely looked liked fun but I didnt want to wait in line.

The weather was so abnormally warm and gorgeous for a good portion of the time they were on too, which was great. Im kind of loving this really warm winter =)

Right now Im working on my list of must have spring items I want.. so far its pretty long as it usually is.. I'll share it with you when Im done. Whats on your must have list so far this spring?

Almost Over

Hello all, so my break had a little side track when I got incredibly sick at the beginning of last week. Yeah, sucked, Im still sad about it. So pretty much the later half of my break was spent with a stuffed up head and sore throat attempting to sleep most of the day. Not exactly the fun stuff I had planned. I will be looking forward to being able to taste food once again. I did get to enjoy everything before that though. This whole Olympic experience has been a blast, I will actually be really sad to see it and all the people go. I will also be sad to go back to school.

Had to share these photos I saw on Fashion Gone Rogue, I always love these types of shoots with fields of daisies and wheat with dreamy lighting.
Im seriously gonna have to run through a field of flowers/wheat one nice sunny day with a slight breeze, it will be awesome =)

Spring has Arrived?

I've been having such a good time enjoying the break, its soo nice to sleep in, and stay up late guilt free. Im such a night owl so its great to be able to sleep in until 1pm if I choose too =)

Im honestly loving the city right now I never realized how exciting the Olympics would be, I cant really even explain it, everyone is soo spirited and excited, the patriotism and happiness is truly inspiring. Not only that but the events going on are an absolute blast, never thought I would enjoy standing in the rain watching an outdoor concert so much. The weather has turned super amazing though, we're having like 16c days and total sunshine which is pretty amazing for Feb, it doesnt even feel like winter. So its probably obvious I already have my eyes on all things spring!

Before I go into all things spring, I thought Id show you my new ring!

New goal: Buy rings with coloured stones, and other jewellery besides rings!

Oh also, the rings from the previous post, the 1st one is from a mall stand called "Peruvian Silver" they dont have a website but their email is peruviansilverdesigns@live.com
The 2nd and 3rd were from a boutique called Crush, which also doesnt really have a website, but her email is CrushClothing@shaw.ca

RIP Alexander McQueen, such a sad loss to the fashion world.

Sleepless

Its probably my own fault, but I've been so sleepless lately I kinda feel like Im in a whirlwind of a week. Luckily I only have to survive two more days and three more exams until my two week olympic break. Then I can get in some much needed rest and hopefully join in on some Olympic fun. Honestly, thats all I've been hearing about, it's kind of like Christmas just in Vancouver, once its over its going to be such a sadness to the city; you know when you were a kid on Christmas, after it was all over, it was just such a letdown that all that built up excitement is over. I honestly dont know what people will talk about.

Just a few quick snaps I took from last week.. more to come! =)

I bought another new ring too, this addiction could become seriously dangerous to my bank account.

New Additions to My Family..

My family of rings that is..

So Im feeling a little big high on caffeine right now, I guess I can thank my Timmys ice cap for that, its making me cold but Im snuggled at home wearing layers of fleece and other soft things to compensate so all is good =) Also rocking out to "Empire State of Mind" by Alicia keys and Jay-Z, I didnt even like this song at first but now the catchyness has gotten stuck in my head so I couldnt help but fall for it. Getting me in the spirit for NY fashion week perhaps?

So I said a long time ago that Id show you the latest additions to my ring collection, I swear my ring addiction grows stronger every day. I would love to design my own rings too, that would be beyond awesome. But anyways I got the first one for my bday way back in Decemeber, probably my favorite of the bunch, its beyond awesome except for the fact that the multi-dimensions of it pull loose knits, so I have to watch myself. But otherwise purrree love!

Still stud lovin'!!

It's a Beautiful Day

Today turned out to be lovely, the sun was actually out and shining, and our winter has been surprisingly warm, I love snow in the winter, but I have to admit this warmth has been kind of nice. I went downtown for the day, ended up buying a new bag, feeling a little guilty since I didnt really need a new one, but it was so nice and soft I couldnt resist.

Downtown is looking ready for the Olympics, posters and such all over town, it looks like most of the new buildings are completed too. I cant help to be a little excited even though I wasnt able to get tickets to any of the events, and that everything else is so damn expensive. It will be cool to have so many people from all over though, and I plan on going to some of the free concerts. If you live in Vancouver or near, you should definitely check them out too! Theres going to be a lot of them, such as hot hot heat, we are the city, sam roberts band, said the whale, tokyo police club, alexisonfire, our lady peace, the arkells, bedouin soundclash, and many more, all free! So thats definitely one bonus, check out the rest here.
If you are lucky enough to stay at Whistler Im pretty sure they are going to have even more free performances from artists such as estelle, one republic, all american rejects, the fray, chromeo, usher and more.

Anywaysssss after blabbing about all that I guess I should also mention this fantastic leather jacket I found from BB Dakota. I saw it when I was in the states last week, unfortunately I couldnt get it because I was only down for a few hours, damn that small spending limit!
photo: stylehive, I saw it at Macys though, on sale for about $128, very Rick Owens no?

Meow

I've kind of been having an obsession with animal prints/pictures/jewellery lately, I got this dusty rose coloured wild cat at Aritzia not too long ago, TNA I believe. Being super comfy automatically brings it to the top of my favorites list. Don't know if I've ever mentioned this before but I pretty much cannot stand wearing uncomfortable clothing, I couldn't be happier that stores have caught onto the oversized trend, I remember years ago when there was wayy less option and skin tight was more "in style" I can still remember all the sales associates telling me "it looks too big, why dont you go down a size?" No thanks =)

But with all of that being said, I still think the tight look can be seriously sexy and sometimes comfy, it just depends!

Morning Beauty

Soo happy the end of the week is here, I dont have class on Fridays so Thursday has become my new TGIF. I may slightly and slowly be adjusting to these early morning, but Im still not quite there, hence an unconcious pass out on my couch when I got home. Nothing beats a nap.

Im also getting so sick of our damn weather, rain everyday, looks like Im going to have to get something waterproof soon, but what I would really rather is just one nice warm sunny day, where I can go sock-less and be warm =) I think thats why I enjoyed this gorgeous editorial featuring Devon Aoki so much.

I Heart Alice

It seems that the new Alice in Wonderland movie is following in the footsteps of Where the Wild Things Are and doing a whole bunch of collaborations. I cant complain though because for the most part I've quite enjoyed them, including this awesome new collection from OPI...

Im thinking I need that 2nd from the left, "Mad as a Hatter", or possibly even the blue, "Absolutely Alice," and Im not even usually a blue nails type of person.

20 Day Week

Im finally finished with my first week of school, it honestly felt like the longest week ever and it was only 4 days long! Thank god I have Fridays off, I can officially say Ive pretty much been running off of coffee. I think I should add another resolution to my list, going to sleep early. I am much more of an evening person, I can stay up to 2am no problem, but then when I have to get up at 6am... you can see how that might contribute to my near unconciousness right now.

A little evening lookie loo before bed helped me discover these awesome shoes
I dont know what it is about these grey boots, but I love them, great colour too but they also come in black!I've seen these ones before, but I still love them, I dont know if my interest in studs is ever going to subside.

Both of these boots are from Jeffrey Campbell, grey from Urban Outfitters and the black from solestruck.com
